2009 AGREEMENT
In the year 2009, There was an agreement pack signed between the universities union comprises of academics and non academics staff over some irregularities in the university system. immediately, After the meeting some of the agreement were reached while some are neglected till date for the best reason known to federal government. The late ex-president musa yar'adua did a formidable job by signing the agreement pack into a law.
After his demise, His successor, ex-president Good-luck Jonathan ebele considered the agreement and approved a jaw-dropping amount for payment across the universities and promised to complete the payment if time permit. During this period the working condition of universities staff was too poor and unbearable. some of the projects were suspended due to inadequate funding. The implementation of the 2009 agreement was never put in place to douse the tension of university staffs, the universities union has call for number of strike as a tool to achieved their objectives, all those tactics yield no fruitful fruit.
The universities union were hypnotised to believed that getting their 2009 agreement fulfilled by federal government is to stand up against them through the use of strike action and that's what brought about the one week warning strike which started on Monday 16th, 2017. to Monday 23rd, 2017. The staff will resume back to their various offices and give a ample room for renegotiation between the universities union and the federal government committee on the 2009 agreement . The federal government side, their scorecard was zero in dealing with the citizen matters.
